The Awakening

Darkness suddenly filled the room
 A silence came over me
All I could do is look at the clock
It read half past noon –

Walking shadows circled my cell
An outline of a dark angel appeared
 He wore a romantic mask
Hiding the evil that I could not foretell

The dark angel embraced me
 Covered me with black robes
He reached out to hold my hand
Because in the darkness I could not see

He led me into twelve rooms
Each held the ingredients to mold me into his bride
 I did not question –
For I thought he was protecting me by wanting to be my groom

Upon leading entering the thirteenth dwelling
An outside light illuminated on a mirror
As I caught a glimpse of my “new” reflection
Fear overwhelmed me – I realized I followed the King of Darkness

I ran to the window of light
And asked if I could come to it
It told me to climb out onto the ledge
And the King of Light will teach me to fly
